13c7a4265a jam: Fix isspace/isalnum/tolower/... usage 
The value passed in must be representable as an unsigned char or equal
to the value of the macro EOF. NetBSD 11+ is actually enforcing this.

923a34a14b jam: use posix_spawnp() instead of fork() on linux. 
the gain is about 10% on a 8-job kernel full build.

c4d9c2df99 * fixed bug when waiting for sub-process related to handling of multiple 
children (as created by piped commands). This caused the compilation
  of AboutHaiku to fail on Zeta.
