text: I''ve just fixed one of these computers, Very nice system. It has 19x 2K ROM (38K). It is not exactly using an 8008, instead they built their own 8008 like processor using discrete logic.

Based on the [MCM 70 / 700](/museum/mcm-computers-mcm-70-700/) (see this entry for more info), the MCM 800 followed in 1976.
It was faster, included 16 KB RAM (instead of 8 KB for the 700), and included the ability to drive an external monitor.
Among other things, MCM 800s were used in one of the first french industrial network called Gixinet (along with ARCnet). This was a token-bus type network developped by the Gixi company.
