text: this is the same console as the unitrex video pro i have. mine is the Canadian version from ontario. it was released about 1975/76. it uses an RF switch box similar to that of the atari 2600 or intelevision. it cost $40 from zellars, or that''s a sale price i donno that''s what the old tag says. the instuctions came in english and french. that''s about all that i know about the Canadian version.

text: I bought one of these in Fort Worth, Texas (home of Tandy/Radio Shack) in 1977. The graphics on the console are slightly different but the shape, color, switches and functions are the same. I think it was on close out because it was priced very low, $20 or so.

The Universum TV-Spiel 1004 is a classic pong system powered by the AY-3-8500 chipset which offers 4 different games (Tennis, Hockey, Squash and Handball), hence its name (100**4**). This system is quite unusual because of its weird triangular shape, and is thus sometimes referred to as the "boomerang pong".
The controllers are very simple: two sliders built into the case of the system... The games are selected through a big orange knob placed in the middle of the case. The usual switches complete the control panel: Power on/off, Ball speed pro/am, Ball angle pro/am, Paddle size pro/am, Service manual/auto...
This particular model seems to have only been sold in Germany.

**David Winter** reports:\
The Universum 1004 is the German version. The same game existed under several other brands: Unitrex Video Pro (USA), Digitek 2001 (USA), Radio Shack TV Scoreboard 60-3052 (USA). Several similar games were released with different controllers: AudioSonic PP-600 (Europe), Concord (model unknown), Regina (model unknown, UK), Ingersol (model unknown, UK), etc.
